Psalms 4
- 1Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: you have enlarged me when I was in distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
- 2O you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love empty words, and seek after lies? Selah.
- 3But know that the Lord has set apart him who is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call to him.
- 4Stand in awe, and do not sin: commune with your own heart on your bed, and be still. Selah.
- 5Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
- 6Many say, Who will show us any good? Lord, lift up the light of your face on us.
- 7You have put happiness in my heart, more than in the time that their grain and their wine increased.
- 8In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me live in safety.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Psalms 4 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVHear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
GIGAKJVHear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: you have enlarged me when I was in distress. Have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.
KJVO ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
GIGAKJVO you sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love empty words, and seek after lies? Selah.
KJVBut know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him.
