Psalms 2
- 1Why do the nations rage, and why do the peoples plot what will come to nothing?
- 2The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,
- 3Let us break their bands apart, and cast away their cords from us.
- 4He who sits in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall mock them.
- 5Then he will speak to them in his wrath and terrify them in his fierce anger.
- 6Yet I have set my king on my holy hill of Zion.
- 7I will declare the decree: the Lord has said to me, You are my Son. Today I have fathered you.
- 8Ask of me, and I shall give you the nations for your inheritance, and the farthest parts of the earth for your possession.
- 9You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a clay pot.
- 10Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth.
- 11Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
- 12Kiss the Son, or he may become angry and you may perish on the way, when his anger burns even a little. Blessed are all who put their trust in him.
