Psalms 13
- 1How long will you forget me, O Lord? For ever? How long will you hide your face from me?
- 2How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall my enemy be lifted high over me?
- 3Look on me and answer me, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, so that I do not sleep the sleep of death.
- 4So that my enemy does not say, "I have overcome him," and those who trouble me do not rejoice when I stumble.
- 5But I have trusted in your mercy. My heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
- 6I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Psalms 13 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVHow long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
GIGAKJVHow long will you forget me, O Lord? For ever? How long will you hide your face from me?
KJVHow long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
GIGAKJVHow long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? How long shall my enemy be lifted high over me?
KJVConsider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
GIGAKJVLook on me and answer me, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, so that I do not sleep the sleep of death.
KJVLest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
GIGAKJVSo that my enemy does not say, "I have overcome him," and those who trouble me do not rejoice when I stumble.
KJVBut I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
GIGAKJVBut I have trusted in your mercy. My heart shall rejoice in your salvation.
KJVI will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
