Luke 22
- 1Now the Feast of Bread Made Without Yeast drew near, which is called the Passover.
- 2And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might kill him, for they feared the people.
- 3Then Satan entered into Judas also called Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
- 4And he went his way, and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray him to them.
- 5And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.
- 6And he promised, and sought opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of the crowd.
- 7Then the day of bread made without yeast came, when the passover lamb must be killed.
- 8And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat.
- 9And they said to him, Where do you want us to prepare?
- 10And he said to them, When you enter the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house he enters.
- 11And you shall say to the owner of the house, The Master says to you, Where is the guest room, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples?
- 12And he shall show you a large upper room furnished. There make ready.
- 13And they went, and found as he had said to them. And they made ready the passover.
- 14And when the hour had come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.
- 15And he said to them, I have greatly desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer.
- 16For I say to you, I will not any more eat of it, until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.
- 17And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves.
- 18For I say to you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
- 19And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave to them, saying, This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.
- 20In the same way, he also took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
- 21But the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.
- 22And truly the Son of man goes, as it was determined. But disaster is coming to that man who betrays him!
- 23And they began to ask among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.
- 24And there was also a conflict among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
- 25And he said to them, The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them. And those who exercise authority on them are called benefactors.
- 26But you shall not be so. But he who is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he who is chief, as he who serves.
- 27For which is greater, he who sits at the meal, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the meal? But I am among you as he who serves.
- 28You are those who have continued with me in my trials.
- 29And I appoint to you a kingdom, as my Father has appointed to me,
- 30That you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
- 31And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to have you all, to sift you like wheat.
- 32But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers and sisters.
- 33And he said to him, Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death.
- 34And he said, I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you shall three times deny that you know me.
- 35And he said to them, When I sent you without purse, and bag, and shoes, did you lack anything? And they said, Nothing.
- 36Then he said to them, But now, he who has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his bag. And he who has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
- 37For I say to you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was counted among the rebels. For the things concerning me are reaching their fulfillment.
- 38And they said, Lord, here are two swords. And he said to them, It is enough.
- 39And he came out, and went, as he was accustomed, to the mount of Olives. And his disciples also followed him.
- 40And when he was at the place, he said to them, Pray that you do not enter into temptation.
- 41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and knelt down, and prayed,
- 42Saying, Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. But not my will, but yours, be done.
- 43And an angel appeared to him from heaven, strengthening him.
- 44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly. And his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
- 45And when he rose up from prayer, and had come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow.
- 46He said to them, Why are you sleeping? Get up and pray, so that you do not enter into temptation.
- 47And while he yet spoke, a crowd arrived, and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him.
- 48But Jesus said to him, Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?
- 49When those who were about him saw what would follow, they said to him, Lord, shall we strike with the sword?
- 50And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.
- 51And Jesus answered and said, Permit this much. And he touched his ear, and healed him.
- 52Then Jesus said to the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, who had come to him, Have you come out as against a thief, with swords and clubs?
- 53When I was daily with you in the temple, you stretched out no hands against me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.
- 54Then they took him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed far away.
- 55And when they had lit a fire in the middle of the courtyard, and had sat down together, Peter sat down among them.
- 56But a servant girl saw him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked on him, and said, This man was also with him.
- 57And he denied him, saying, Woman, I do not know him.
- 58And after a little while another saw him, and said, You are also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
- 59And about one hour later, another confidently affirmed, saying, Truly this man also was with him. For he is a Galilean.
- 60And Peter said, Man, I do not know what you say. And immediately, while he yet spoke, the rooster crowed.
- 61And the Lord turned, and looked on Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said to him, Before the rooster crows, you shall deny me three times.
- 62And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
- 63And the men who held Jesus mocked him, and struck him.
- 64And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that struck you?
- 65And many other things they blasphemously spoke against him.
- 66And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
- 67Are you the Christ? Tell us. And he said to them, If I tell you, you will not believe.
- 68And if I also ask you, you will not answer me, or let me go.
- 69From now on the Son of man shall sit on the right hand of the power of God.
- 70Then they all said, Are you then the Son of God? And he said to them, You say that I am.
- 71And they said, What further witness do we need? For we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.
