Luke 21
- 1And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.
- 2And he saw also a poor widow casting in there two small coins.
- 3And he said, Truly I say to you, that this poor widow has cast in more than they all.
- 4For all these have of their abundance cast in to the offerings of God. But she of her poverty has cast in all she had to live on.
- 5And as some spoke of the temple, how it was decorated with fine stones and gifts, he said,
- 6As for these things which you look at, the days will come in which there shall not be left one stone on another, that shall not be thrown down.
- 7And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? And what sign will there be when these things will happen?
- 8And he said, Be careful that you are not deceived. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ, and the time draws near. Therefore do not follow them.
- 9But when you shall hear of wars and commotions, do not be terrified. For these things must first happen, but the end will not come immediately.
- 10Then he said to them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
- 11And there will be great earthquakes in various places, famines, and outbreaks of disease. There will also be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.
- 12But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
- 13And it shall turn out for you as a testimony.
- 14Settle it therefore in your hearts not to prepare beforehand what you shall answer.
- 15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your enemies shall not be able to contradict or resist.
- 16And you shall be betrayed both by parents, and brothers and sisters, and relatives, and friends. And some of you they shall cause to be put to death.
- 17And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake.
- 18But not a hair of your head shall perish.
- 19By your endurance, gain your lives.
- 20And when you shall see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its ruin is near.
- 21Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. And let those who are in the middle of it get out. And do not let those who are in the country enter into it.
- 22For these are the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
- 23But disaster is coming to those who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing, in those days! For there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath on this people.
- 24And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations. And Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
- 25And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars. And on the earth there will be distress among nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring.
- 26People will faint from fear as they wait for what is coming on the earth. For the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
- 27And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and giga glory.
- 28And when these things begin to happen, then look up, and lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near.
- 29And he spoke to them a parable. Look at the fig tree, and all the trees.
- 30When they now put out leaves, you see and know of your own selves that summer is now near.
- 31So likewise you, when you see these things happen, know that the kingdom of God is near.
- 32Truly I say to you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
- 33Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
- 34Watch yourselves, so that your hearts are not weighed down by overindulgence, drunkenness, and the worries of this life, and that day does not come upon you unexpectedly.
- 35For as a snare shall it come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
- 36Watch therefore, and pray always, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that will happen, and to stand before the Son of man.
- 37And in the daytime he was teaching in the temple. And at night he went out, and stayed in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
- 38And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.
