Matthew 7
- 1Do not judge, so that you may not be judged.
- 2For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged. And with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again.
- 3And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?
- 4Or how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye, and a beam is in your own eye?
- 5You hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
- 6Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before pigs. They may trample them under their feet, then turn and tear you apart.
- 7Ask, and it shall be given you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.
- 8For everyone who asks receives. And he who seeks finds. And to him who knocks it shall be opened.
- 9Or what man is there among you, who if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
- 10Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
- 11If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
- 12Therefore, whatever you want people to do for you, do the same for them. For this is the law and the prophets.
- 13Enter in at the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
- 14Because the gate is narrow and the way is confined that leads to life, and few find it.
- 15Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are savage wolves.
- 16You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
- 17Even so every good tree bears good fruit, but a corrupt tree bears evil fruit.
- 18A good tree cannot bear evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bear good fruit.
- 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
- 20Therefore by their fruits you shall know them.
- 21Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
- 22Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have we cast out demons? And in your name have we done many mighty works?
- 23And then I will profess to them, I never knew you. Go away from me, you who do wrong.
- 24Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will compare him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
- 25And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house. And it did not fall. For it was founded on a rock.
- 26And everyone who hears these sayings of mine, and does not do them, shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
- 27And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house. And it fell. And great was the fall of it.
- 28When Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine.
- 29For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Matthew 7 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVJudge not, that ye be not judged.
GIGAKJVDo not judge, so that you may not be judged.
KJVFor with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
GIGAKJVFor with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged. And with what measure you measure, it shall be measured to you again.
KJVAnd why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
GIGAKJVAnd why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not consider the beam that is in your own eye?
KJVOr how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
GIGAKJVOr how will you say to your brother, Let me pull the speck out of your eye, and a beam is in your own eye?
KJVThou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
GIGAKJVYou hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you shall see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.
KJVGive not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
GIGAKJVDo not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before pigs. They may trample them under their feet, then turn and tear you apart.
KJVAsk, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
GIGAKJVAsk, and it shall be given you. Seek, and you shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you.
KJVFor every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
GIGAKJVFor everyone who asks receives. And he who seeks finds. And to him who knocks it shall be opened.
KJVOr what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
GIGAKJVOr what man is there among you, who if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
KJVOr if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
GIGAKJVOr if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
KJVIf ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
GIGAKJVIf you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him?
KJVTherefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
GIGAKJVTherefore, whatever you want people to do for you, do the same for them. For this is the law and the prophets.
KJVEnter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
GIGAKJVEnter in at the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
KJVBecause strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
GIGAKJVBecause the gate is narrow and the way is confined that leads to life, and few find it.
KJVBeware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
GIGAKJVBeware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are savage wolves.
KJVYe shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
GIGAKJVYou shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
KJVEven so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
GIGAKJVEven so every good tree bears good fruit, but a corrupt tree bears evil fruit.
KJVA good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
GIGAKJVA good tree cannot bear evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bear good fruit.
KJVEvery tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
GIGAKJVEvery tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
KJVWherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
GIGAKJVTherefore by their fruits you shall know them.
KJVNot every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
GIGAKJVNot everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
KJVMany will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
GIGAKJVMany will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? And in your name have we cast out demons? And in your name have we done many mighty works?
KJVAnd then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
GIGAKJVAnd then I will profess to them, I never knew you. Go away from me, you who do wrong.
KJVTherefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
GIGAKJVTherefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will compare him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
KJVAnd the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

KJVAnd the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
GIGAKJVAnd the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house. And it fell. And great was the fall of it.
KJVAnd it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
