Matthew 25
- 1Then shall the kingdom of heaven be compared to ten virgins who took their lamps, and went out to meet the groom.
- 2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
- 3Those who were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them.
- 4But the wise took oil in jars with their lamps.
- 5While the groom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
- 6And at midnight there was a cry made, The groom comes. Go out to meet him.
- 7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
- 8And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.
- 9But the wise answered, "No, there may not be enough for both us and you. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves."
- 10And while they went to buy, the groom came. And those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.
- 11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
- 12But he answered and said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.
- 13Watch therefore, for you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of man comes.
- 14For the kingdom of heaven is as a man traveling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered to them his goods.
- 15And to one he gave five bags of silver, to another two, and to another one, to every man according to his own ability, and immediately took his journey.
- 16Then he who had received the five bags of silver went and traded with the same, and made five more bags of silver.
- 17And likewise he who had received two, he also gained two more.
- 18But he who had received one went and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
- 19After a long time the lord of those servants comes, and settles accounts with them.
- 20And so he who had received five bags of silver came and brought five more bags of silver, saying, Lord, you delivered to me five bags of silver. I have gained five more bags of silver.
- 21His lord said to him, Well done, you good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.
- 22He also who had received two bags of silver came and said, Lord, you delivered to me two bags of silver. I have gained two more bags of silver besides them.
- 23His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.
- 24Then he who had received the one bag of silver came and said, Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered.
- 25And I was afraid, and went and hid your bag of silver in the earth. Here you have what is yours.
- 26His lord answered and said to him, You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I did not sow, and gather where I have not scattered.
- 27You should therefore have put my money with the bankers. Then when I returned, I would have received my own money with interest.
- 28Take therefore the bag of silver from him, and give it to him who has ten bags of silver.
- 29For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance. But from him who has not, even what he has shall be taken away.
- 30And cast the unprofitable servant into outer darkness. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
- 31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then he shall sit on the throne of his glory.
- 32And before him shall be gathered all nations, and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
- 33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
- 34Then shall the King say to them on his right hand, Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
- 35For I was hungry, and you gave me food. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in.
- 36I was naked, and you clothed me. I was sick, and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came to me.
- 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you? Or thirsty, and give you drink?
- 38When did we see you a stranger, and take you in? Or naked, and clothe you?
- 39Or when did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?
- 40And the King shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Since you have done it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you have done it to me.
- 41Then he shall say also to them on the left hand, Go away from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.
- 42For I was hungry, and you gave me no food. I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink.
- 43I was a stranger, and you did not take me in. I was naked, and you did not clothe me. I was sick, and in prison, and you did not visit me.
- 44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to you?
- 45Then he shall answer them, saying, Truly I say to you, Since you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.
- 46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into life eternal.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Matthew 25 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
