Romans 15
- 1We then who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
- 2Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification.
- 3For even Christ did not please himself. But, as it is written, The insults of those who insulted you fell on me.
- 4For whatever things were written formerly were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
- 5Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus.
- 6That you may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- 7Therefore receive you one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.
- 8Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers.
- 9And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, For this cause I will confess to you among the Gentiles, and sing to your name.
- 10And again he says, Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.
- 11And again, Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and laud him, all you people.
- 12And again, Isaiah says, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles. In him shall the Gentiles trust.
- 13Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may overflow with hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
- 14And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brothers and sisters, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to warn one another.
- 15But, brothers and sisters, I have written the more boldly to you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
- 16That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
- 17I have therefore something of which I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which belong to God.
- 18For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not worked by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
- 19Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem, and all around as far as Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
- 20I have worked hard to preach the gospel where Christ has not been named, so that I do not build on another person's foundation.
- 21But as it is written, Those who were never told about him shall see, and those who have not heard shall understand.
- 22For this cause also I have been much hindered from coming to you.
- 23But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come to you.
- 24Whenever I travel to Spain, I will come to you. I hope to see you as I pass through and to have your help on my way there, after first enjoying your company for a while.
- 25But now I go to Jerusalem to minister to the saints.
- 26For it has pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a contribution for the poor saints who are at Jerusalem.
- 27It has pleased them truly, and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been made sharers in their spiritual things, their duty is also to serve them with material things.
- 28When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
- 29And I am sure that, when I come to you, I shall come in the fullness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
- 30Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that you struggle together with me in your prayers to God for me.
- 31That I may be delivered from those who do not believe in Judea, and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints.
- 32That I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
- 33Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Romans 15 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
