Romans 14
- 1Welcome the person who is weak in faith, but not to pass judgment on his opinions.
- 2For one believes that he may eat all things. Another, who is weak, eats herbs.
- 3Do not let him who eats despise him who does not eat. And do not let him who does not eat judge him who eats. For God has received him.
- 4Who are you that judge another man's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Yes, he shall be held up. For God is able to make him stand.
- 5One man values one day above another. Another values every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
- 6He who regards the day, regards it to the Lord. And he who does not regard the day, to the Lord he does not regard it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks. And he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks.
- 7For none of us lives to himself, and no man dies to himself.
- 8For whether we live, we live to the Lord. And whether we die, we die to the Lord. Whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
- 9To this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
- 10But why do you judge your brother or sister? Or why do you treat your brother or sister as nothing? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
- 11For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
- 12So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
- 13Let us not therefore judge one another any more. But decide this instead: do not put a stumbling block or a cause of falling in the way of a brother or sister.
- 14I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself. But to him who considers anything unclean, to him it is unclean.
- 15But if your brother or sister is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not destroy, by your food, the one Christ died for.
- 16Do not let your good then be evil spoken of.
- 17For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
- 18For he who in these things serves Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
- 19Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things with which one may edify another.
- 20Do not destroy the work of God for food. All things indeed are pure. But it is evil for that man who eats with offense.
- 21It is good not to eat flesh, or to drink wine, or anything by which your brother or sister stumbles, or is led into sin, or is made weak.
- 22Have you faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in that thing which he allows.
- 23And he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat of faith. For whatever is not of faith is sin.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Romans 14 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
