Hebrews 5
- 1For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things having to do with God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
- 2He can have compassion on the ignorant, and on those who are going astray, since he himself is also surrounded by weakness.
- 3And for this reason he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
- 4And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called of God, as was Aaron.
- 5So also Christ did not glorify himself to be made a high priest, but he who said to him, You are my Son, today I have fathered you.
- 6As he says also in another place, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
- 7Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and pleas with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, was heard because he feared.
- 8Though he was a Son, yet he learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
- 9And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all those who obey him.
- 10Called of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
- 11Of him we have many things to say, and hard to explain, since you are dull of hearing.
- 12By this time you ought to be teachers, but you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God's words again. You have come to need milk instead of solid food.
- 13For everyone who uses milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness. For he is a babe.
- 14But solid food belongs to those who are mature, even those who by practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Hebrews 5 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVFor every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins:
GIGAKJVFor every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things having to do with God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
KJVWho can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity.

KJVAnd no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
GIGAKJVAnd no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called of God, as was Aaron.
KJVSo also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
GIGAKJVSo also Christ did not glorify himself to be made a high priest, but he who said to him, You are my Son, today I have fathered you.
KJVAs he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
GIGAKJVAs he says also in another place, You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.
KJVWho in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

GIGAKJVCalled of God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.
KJVOf whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing.
GIGAKJVOf him we have many things to say, and hard to explain, since you are dull of hearing.
KJVFor when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
GIGAKJVBy this time you ought to be teachers, but you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God's words again. You have come to need milk instead of solid food.
KJVFor every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
GIGAKJVFor everyone who uses milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness. For he is a babe.
KJVBut strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
GIGAKJVBut solid food belongs to those who are mature, even those who by practice have their senses trained to discern both good and evil.
