2 Corinthians 3
- 1Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or need we, as some others, letters of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
- 2You are our letter written in our hearts, known and read of all men.
- 3Since you are clearly declared to be a letter from Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on the heart's tablets of flesh.
- 4And such trust have we through Christ toward God.
- 5Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God.
- 6Who also has made us able ministers of the new testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit. For the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.
- 7But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was to pass away,
- 8How shall not the ministry of the spirit be rather glorious?
- 9For if the ministry of condemnation be glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness exceed in glory.
- 10For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels.
- 11For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.
- 12Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech.
- 13And not as Moses, who put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not look closely to the end of that which is abolished.
- 14But their minds were blinded. For until this day remains the same veil not taken away in the reading of the old testament, which veil is done away in Christ.
- 15But even to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart.
- 16But when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
- 17Now the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
- 18But we all, with unveiled faces beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of 2 Corinthians 3 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVDo we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
GIGAKJVDo we begin again to commend ourselves? Or need we, as some others, letters of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
KJVYe are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
GIGAKJVYou are our letter written in our hearts, known and read of all men.
KJVForasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
GIGAKJVSince you are clearly declared to be a letter from Christ, delivered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on the heart's tablets of flesh.
KJVAnd such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:
GIGAKJVAnd such trust have we through Christ toward God.
KJVNot that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
GIGAKJVNot that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves, but our sufficiency is of God.
KJVWho also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.
GIGAKJVWho also has made us able ministers of the new testament, not of the letter, but of the spirit. For the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.
KJVBut if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
GIGAKJVBut if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the Israelites could not gaze at Moses' face because of its glory, which was to pass away,
KJVHow shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?
GIGAKJVHow shall not the ministry of the spirit be rather glorious?
KJVFor if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.
GIGAKJVFor if the ministry of condemnation be glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness exceed in glory.
KJVFor even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
GIGAKJVFor even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excels.
KJVFor if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
GIGAKJVFor if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remains is glorious.
KJVSeeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:
GIGAKJVSeeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech.
KJVAnd not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
GIGAKJVAnd not as Moses, who put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not look closely to the end of that which is abolished.
KJVBut their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
GIGAKJVBut their minds were blinded. For until this day remains the same veil not taken away in the reading of the old testament, which veil is done away in Christ.
KJVBut even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
GIGAKJVBut even to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart.
KJVNevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
GIGAKJVBut when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
KJVNow the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
GIGAKJVNow the Lord is that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
KJVBut we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
GIGAKJVBut we all, with unveiled faces beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
