2 Corinthians 13
- 1This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
- 2I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time, and being absent now I write to those who before now have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare.
- 3Since you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who toward you is not weak, but is mighty in you.
- 4For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
- 5Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith. Prove your own selves. Do you not know your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you fail the test?
- 6But I trust that you will know that we have not failed the test.
- 7Now I pray to God that you do no evil, not so that we may appear approved, but so that you may do what is right, even if we appear to fail the test.
- 8For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
- 9For we are glad, when we are weak, and you are strong. And this is also what we pray for: your restoration.
- 10So I write these things while I am absent, so that when I am present I do not have to deal harshly with you, according to the authority the Lord gave me to build up and not to destroy.
- 11Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Be restored, be encouraged, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
- 12Greet one another with a holy kiss.
- 13All the saints greet you.
- 14The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit, be with you all. Amen.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of 2 Corinthians 13 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVI told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
GIGAKJVI told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time, and being absent now I write to those who before now have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare.
KJVSince ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
GIGAKJVSince you seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, who toward you is not weak, but is mighty in you.
KJVFor though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
GIGAKJVFor though he was crucified through weakness, yet he lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
KJVExamine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
GIGAKJVExamine yourselves, whether you are in the faith. Prove your own selves. Do you not know your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you, unless you fail the test?
KJVBut I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
GIGAKJVBut I trust that you will know that we have not failed the test.
KJVNow I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
GIGAKJVNow I pray to God that you do no evil, not so that we may appear approved, but so that you may do what is right, even if we appear to fail the test.
KJVFor we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
GIGAKJVFor we are glad, when we are weak, and you are strong. And this is also what we pray for: your restoration.
KJVTherefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
GIGAKJVSo I write these things while I am absent, so that when I am present I do not have to deal harshly with you, according to the authority the Lord gave me to build up and not to destroy.
KJVFinally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
GIGAKJVFinally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Be restored, be encouraged, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
