Ezekiel 5
- 1And you, son of man, take a sharp knife, take a barber's razor, and cause it to pass on your head and on your beard: then take you balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
- 2You shall burn with fire a third part in the middle of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and you shall take a third part, and strike about it with a knife: and a third part you shall scatter in the wind. And I will draw out a sword after them.
- 3You shall also take of it a few in number, and bind them in your skirts.
- 4Then take of them again, and cast them into the middle of the fire, and burn them in the fire. For of it shall a fire come out into all the house of Israel.
- 5The Lord God says this. This is Jerusalem: I have set it among the nations and countries that are all around her.
- 6And she has changed my judgments into evil more than the nations, and my laws more than the countries that are all around her. For they have refused my judgments and my laws, they have not walked in them.
- 7Therefore the Lord God says this. Because you multiplied more than the nations that are all around you, and have not walked in my laws, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you.
- 8Therefore the Lord God says this. I, even I, am against you, and will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.
- 9And I will do in you who which I have not done, and to which I will not do any more the like, because of all your disgusting practices.
- 10Therefore the fathers shall eat the sons among you, and the sons shall eat their fathers. And I will execute judgments in you, and the whole remnant of you will I scatter into all the winds.
- 11Therefore, as I live, says the Lord God. Surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your disgusting practices, therefore I will also diminish you. Neither shall my eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
- 12A third part of you shall die with the plague, and with famine shall they be consumed among you: and a third part shall fall by the sword all around you. And I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
- 13This is how my anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest on them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the Lord have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.
- 14Also I will make you waste, and a disgrace among the nations that are all around you, in the sight of all that pass by.
- 15So it shall be a disgrace and a taunt, an instruction and a horror to the nations that are all around you, when I shall execute judgments in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the Lord have spoken it.
- 16When I shall send on them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine on you, and will break your staff of bread:
- 17So I will send on you famine and evil beasts, and they shall take your children from you: and plague and blood shall pass through you. And I will bring the sword on you. I the Lord have spoken it.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Ezekiel 5 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
KJVAnd thou, son of man, take thee a sharp knife, take thee a barber's razor, and cause it to pass upon thine head and upon thy beard: then take thee balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
GIGAKJVAnd you, son of man, take a sharp knife, take a barber's razor, and cause it to pass on your head and on your beard: then take you balances to weigh, and divide the hair.
KJVThou shalt burn with fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.
GIGAKJVYou shall burn with fire a third part in the middle of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and you shall take a third part, and strike about it with a knife: and a third part you shall scatter in the wind. And I will draw out a sword after them.
KJVThou shalt also take thereof a few in number, and bind them in thy skirts.
GIGAKJVYou shall also take of it a few in number, and bind them in your skirts.
KJVThen take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
GIGAKJVThen take of them again, and cast them into the middle of the fire, and burn them in the fire. For of it shall a fire come out into all the house of Israel.
KJVThus saith the Lord God; This is Jerusalem: I have set it in the midst of the nations and countries that are round about her.
GIGAKJVThe Lord God says this. This is Jerusalem: I have set it among the nations and countries that are all around her.
KJVAnd she hath changed my judgments into wickedness more than the nations, and my statutes more than the countries that are round about her: for they have refused my judgments and my statutes, they have not walked in them.
GIGAKJVAnd she has changed my judgments into evil more than the nations, and my laws more than the countries that are all around her. For they have refused my judgments and my laws, they have not walked in them.
KJVTherefore thus saith the Lord God; Because ye multiplied more than the nations that are round about you, and have not walked in my statutes, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are round about you;
GIGAKJVTherefore the Lord God says this. Because you multiplied more than the nations that are all around you, and have not walked in my laws, neither have kept my judgments, neither have done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you.
KJVTherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I, even I, am against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.
GIGAKJVTherefore the Lord God says this. I, even I, am against you, and will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.
KJVAnd I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.
GIGAKJVAnd I will do in you who which I have not done, and to which I will not do any more the like, because of all your disgusting practices.
KJVTherefore the fathers shall eat the sons in the midst of thee, and the sons shall eat their fathers; and I will execute judgments in thee, and the whole remnant of thee will I scatter into all the winds.
GIGAKJVTherefore the fathers shall eat the sons among you, and the sons shall eat their fathers. And I will execute judgments in you, and the whole remnant of you will I scatter into all the winds.
KJVWherefore, as I live, saith the Lord God; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
GIGAKJVTherefore, as I live, says the Lord God. Surely, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable things, and with all your disgusting practices, therefore I will also diminish you. Neither shall my eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
KJVA third part of thee shall die with the pestilence, and with famine shall they be consumed in the midst of thee: and a third part shall fall by the sword round about thee; and I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
GIGAKJVA third part of you shall die with the plague, and with famine shall they be consumed among you: and a third part shall fall by the sword all around you. And I will scatter a third part into all the winds, and I will draw out a sword after them.
KJVThus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the Lord have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.
GIGAKJVThis is how my anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest on them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the Lord have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.
KJVMoreover I will make thee waste, and a reproach among the nations that are round about thee, in the sight of all that pass by.
GIGAKJVAlso I will make you waste, and a disgrace among the nations that are all around you, in the sight of all that pass by.
KJVSo it shall be a reproach and a taunt, an instruction and an astonishment unto the nations that are round about thee, when I shall execute judgments in thee in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the Lord have spoken it.
GIGAKJVSo it shall be a disgrace and a taunt, an instruction and a horror to the nations that are all around you, when I shall execute judgments in you in anger and in fury and in furious rebukes. I the Lord have spoken it.
KJVWhen I shall send upon them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine upon you, and will break your staff of bread:
GIGAKJVWhen I shall send on them the evil arrows of famine, which shall be for their destruction, and which I will send to destroy you: and I will increase the famine on you, and will break your staff of bread:
KJVSo will I send upon you famine and evil beasts, and they shall bereave thee: and pestilence and blood shall pass through thee; and I will bring the sword upon thee. I the Lord have spoken it.
GIGAKJVSo I will send on you famine and evil beasts, and they shall take your children from you: and plague and blood shall pass through you. And I will bring the sword on you. I the Lord have spoken it.
