Revelation 21
- 1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth. For the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea.
- 2And I, John, saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
- 3And I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, The tabernacle of God is with men, and he will live with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them, and be their God.
- 4And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes. There will be no more death, or sorrow, or crying, and there will be no more pain. For the former things have passed away.
- 5And he who sat on the throne said, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write, for these words are true and faithful.
- 6And he said to me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give freely from the fountain of the water of life to anyone who is thirsty.
- 7He who overcomes will inherit all things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
- 8But the cowardly, and unbelieving, and the disgusting, and murderers, and sexually immoral people, and sorcerers, and idol worshipers, and all liars, will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death.
- 9And one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came to me, and talked with me, saying, Come here, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife.
- 10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
- 11Having the glory of God. Her light was like a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal.
- 12It had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
- 13On the east three gates. On the north three gates. On the south three gates. And on the west three gates.
- 14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
- 15And he who talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and its gates, and its wall.
- 16And the city is square, and its length is equal to its width. He measured the city with the rod: about 1,400 miles. The length and the width and the height of it are equal.
- 17And he measured its wall, about 216 feet, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
- 18And the building of its wall was of jasper. The city was pure gold, like clear glass.
- 19And the foundations of the wall of the city were set with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third a chalcedony, the fourth an emerald.
- 20The fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth a topaz, the tenth a chrysoprase, the eleventh a jacinth, the twelfth an amethyst.
- 21And the twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each gate was of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
- 22And I saw no temple in it. For the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
- 23And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it. For the glory of God gave it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
- 24And the nations of those who are saved will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
- 25And its gates will not be shut at all by day. For there will be no night there.
- 26And they will bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
- 27And nothing that defiles will enter it in any way, or anyone who does disgusting things, or makes a lie, but those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.
