1 Peter 5
- 1The elders who are among you I urge, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also one who shares in the glory that shall be revealed.
- 2Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, overseeing it, not because you are forced, but willingly, not for shameful gain, but eagerly,
- 3neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
- 4And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.
- 5Likewise, you younger, submit yourselves to the elder. Yes, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility. For God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.
- 6Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may honor you in due time,
- 7casting all your care on him, for he cares for you.
- 8Be sober, be watchful, because your enemy the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking someone he may devour.
- 9Resist him, firm in the faith, knowing that your brothers and sisters in the world are going through the same sufferings.
- 10But may the God of all grace, who has called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
- 11To him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.
- 12By Silvanus, who I regard as a faithful brother to you, I have written briefly, urging, and testifying that this is the true grace of God in which you stand.
- 13The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, greets you, and so does Mark my son.
- 14Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
