Colossians 2
- 1For I would that you knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh.
- 2That their hearts might be encouraged, being knit together in love, and to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ.
- 3In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
- 4I say this so that no one deceives you with persuasive words.
- 5For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in the spirit, rejoicing and looking at your order, and the firmness of your faith in Christ.
- 6As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him.
- 7Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as you have been taught, overflowing in it with thanksgiving.
- 8Watch out that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit, following human tradition and the basic principles of the world, instead of Christ.
- 9For in him lives all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
- 10And you are complete in him, who is the head of every ruler and power.
- 11In him also you are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ.
- 12Buried with him in baptism, in which also you have risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised him from the dead.
- 13And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he has made alive together with him, having forgiven you all sins.
- 14He wiped out the written record of debt, with its rules, that was against us and opposed to us. He took it out of the way, nailing it to the cross.
- 15And having disarmed the rulers and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
- 16Let no man therefore judge you in food, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days.
- 17Which are a shadow of things to come, but the body is of Christ.
- 18Let no man cheat you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
- 19And not holding the Head. From him all the body, supplied with nourishment and knit together by joints and bands, increases with the increase of God.
- 20Therefore if you died with Christ to the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, are you subject to rules—
- 21"Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle"—
- 22about things that all perish with use, according to human commandments and teachings?
- 23Which things have indeed a show of wisdom in self-made worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body, not in any honor to the satisfying of the flesh.
What changed from the KJV
GIGAKJV is a modern English revision of the King James Version. The comparison below uses the project's KJV text in the later 1769 tradition and marks, word by word, each verse of Colossians 2 where the wording differs: struck-through words are the KJV's, highlighted words are GIGAKJV's.
